production of The Railway Children won the Best Entertainment Award at the 2011
Olivier Awards. Now The Railway Children London is set to return to Waterloo station
in June 2011. Adapted from E
Nesbit’s hugely popular book The Railway Children London tells the story
of three children as their family is turned upside down when their father disappears
and they have to move from an affluent town house in London to rural Yorkshire. Bobby,
Peter and Phyllis, move with their mother when their father is falsely imprisoned
for selling secrets to the Russians. Finding solace in the steam trains on the
nearby railway line the children soon befriend Station Master Perks and an Old
Gentleman who throughout the play helps to prove their father’s innocence.
Originally published in 1906 The Railway Children is a heart warming story of
love and family ties. |
